Manhattanhenge, 2011

Full sun disc down 23rd St. Predicted time: 8:17 pm… actual time: ~8:09 pm.  Not sure why the predicted time was so late.

Sun just above the horizon at an azimuth of about 299 degrees (29 degrees north of due west—270 degrees—as the Manhattan street grid runs approximately 29 degrees north of true west-east).

Surprisingly, this is my first Manhattanhenge after living here for 6 years and being obsessed with it and other solar alignment nerdiness.  Hopefully the next ones on 7/11 and 7/12 will be a bit less hazy, though the neon pink disc is pretty rad.
