On the evening of September 14, 2012, Kyp Malone of TV On The Radio visited A’yen Tran’s Boat for Singing Together, a handmade sculptural vessel parked in the middle of NYC’s Jamaica Bay. Guests were shuttled out to the boat in small groups, where they were taught some of Kyp’s new and unreleased material and participated in singalongs that echoed through the open-floored boat and mingled with the sounds of the surrounding water and wind.
Hurricane Sandy subsequently destroyed Sunset Marina, The Boat for Singing Together’s home, and we need your help to get it back on the water.

I wanted the concept of this shoot to center around rituals, witchcraft, black magic, and the like, based on the amazing patterns Sonia Tay infuses into her clothing. A selection is now up here.
